Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to our blog. We are a small reo rua (bilingual) class of year 4-6 tamariki in Ōtautahi. Our blog is a way that we can share our learning with the world and it gives our tamariki an authentic audience. It is also a place for us to trial new and exciting technology. Please leave us a comment and follow us if you want to see more of what we are doing.
At Hornby Primary School we have a small dedicated Health Team which have recently attended a workshop. They meet weekly and have just presented a slideshow on wellbeing at our school. Titiro mai koutou.
We are using our area and perimeter knowledge to design a zoo with Google Draw. Below are some of the beginning stages of our process. We hope to have them completed by the end of next week watch this space!
Yesterday we had some experts from the Canterbury Tennis Club come and show us some skills to help us when playing tennis. Today they visited us again for our second lot of lessons and we have really improved. It was so much fun.
Today we had a go at making Põtaka using cardboard and foam. These were originally made from wood and were a common game for Māori hundreds of years ago. We had a class competition to see whose Põtaka would spin to longest!
